AR Runner

My experience with the AR Runner app was not what one would call easy. When I first tried to download the app, there was a message that read, "This app requires specific features not available on this device." I then tried to download it on my iPad and got the same message. The next step was to try it on an iPad from my classroom. That didn't work either. My next thought was to try my husband's phone. He has a Windows phone. I then learned that it is only available for iPhone 6s or later versions as well as iPad Pro or iPad (2017). I have an iPhone 6. After trying other AR apps with no success, I deduced that the iPhone 6 does not have the capabilities to run most of the AR apps. I finally asked a friend if I could use her iPhone 8 and pay her the fee required to download the app. She graciously agreed. 3D Printing in the Classroom

3D printing is a relatively new and emerging technological advancement that allows the user to print almost any object in 3-dimensional form. The ability to implement this technology in the classroom adds another element of learning that can lead to a new level of creativity. Students can use the technology to design and print creative projects such as a piece of art. They can also solve real-world problems by designing and making an object that meets certain criteria. This technology would allow students in a science class the ability to make replicas of cells, bacteria, organs, DNA strands, molecular structures, and an endless number of other possibilities. Another use of the 3D technology would be to print structures and buildings from today's world or even from ancient history. They could even print models of extinct animals such as dinosaurs. Top Hat vs Nearpod

Nearpod and Top Hat are both classroom tools that allow educators to make interactive and engaging lessons in which students can actively participate and learn. In both programs, teachers can choose from a library of lessons, or they can create their own by uploading Google Slides or Power Point slides. They can then add other slides in which students can be assessed in real time. These assessments can come in the form of multiple choice questions, polls, drawings, or discussions. This allows the teacher to monitor progress and understanding of the content. To begin a lesson, a code is generated in which the teacher shares with the class. The teacher can see when students are logged in and ready. The teacher is in control of the progress of the lesson by advancing slides and leading discussions.
